「Eleven Types of Beds」
Exhibition Space Design
Exhibition Space Design
Project Duration: 2024/03 - 2024/06
Location: Hong Art Museum, 5th Floor, The Westin Hotel, 1067 Jinxiu Road, Lucheng District, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province
Curated by Peng Xueying, the exhibition “Eleven Types of Beds” takes the “bed” as a starting point, leading to practical explorations and imaginative visions of how to construct new social relationships and lifestyles. It explores the relationship between the private and the public, the inner and the outer, without erasing the boundaries between them. Twelve artists (or artist groups) were invited to respond to the exhibition’s theme and the spatial relationships within which their works are situated.
We used light-gauge steel studs as the basic structural units, combined with PE woven fabric, hanging components, casters, and magnets to rapidly assemble flexible exhibition walls, ceilings, display platforms, and walkways. This created an open, flexible, and engaging backdrop for Xueying’s “Eleven Beds” exhibition. The installation itself became part of the exhibition, interacting with the artists’ works, extending the exhibition’s theme, and inviting the audience to engage their imagination.
We utilized low-cost, lightweight materials integrated with a suspension system to avoid damaging the wooden floor. Upon dismantling, the structures could be quickly and completely removed, minimizing construction waste and extensive cleanup efforts.
