The exhibition “The City as an Art Site: The Boundary Changes from Space to Daily Life”, currently on view at the art museum, focuses on the interaction between contemporary Chinese art practices and urban spaces. Through the individual practices and perspectives of the artists, the exhibition explores the fluid boundaries of the city—between the visible and the invisible, the tangible and the intangible, order and chaos, reality and fiction, and the public and the private.
One of the participating creative groups in the first section, “The City as an Art Site”—“No.1 House of Finnish Pine”—brings a “youthful spirit” they have gradually come to understand through their studio practice to the corners of the city. Through labor involving simple technical and material languages, they explore ways to activate dialogue within urban public spaces. This improvisational approach not only infuses urban spaces with fresh vitality but also offers audiences a wholly new way to experience art.
