Following our first collaboration in April 2025, we partnered with Jaba Zhaoba again in October, joining forces with artist Zheng Awen, as well as Liu Rukui and Cheng Yu, who were involved throughout the project.

At Anaya in Guangzhou, our challenge was not merely to construct the structure, but to create a public space with the qualities of a “paradise” through on-site collaboration within an extremely tight timeframe.

To accommodate the grassy environment, we adjusted our material strategy:

High-density EPS foam boxes: served as the stage base. Lightweight and shock-absorbing, they minimized the stage’s impact on the grass, ensuring ecological recovery after dismantling.
PVC pipes: combined with Finnish pine to construct the stage structure and entrance pathways. This versatile material took on a new function in this project—interacting with water.
Orange straps and floats: Our trusted “veterans,” continuing to serve as connectors and visual accents on-site.

Zheng Awen designed four sets of “misting” installations. Leveraging the malleability of PVC pipes and incorporating on-site testing, these installations provided physical cooling along the event’s circulation paths. When the mist sprayed—and even refracted rainbows during nighttime tests—the flow of water disrupted the static structures, lending a sense of softness to the installations themselves.

In addition to the main stage, we constructed independent units for the “Leisure Market” based on the undulating terrain of the site. By combining Finnish pine boards with shade cloth, we allowed vendors to sit on the ground, adapting to the natural contours of the land. Even the event signage was created through a DIY approach using spray-painted wooden boards—traces of the construction process remained visible throughout the entire event.
