We are honored to have been invited by our old friend Shally to create a new space full of possibilities—“Read Wood”—for “HOEY” in Foshan.
Each time, a single book takes center stage, and all exhibitions, talks, workshops, and games revolve around that book.
To complement this flexible and ever-changing theme, we chose familiar Finnish pine for handcrafted construction, integrating a water bar, exhibition space, and lounge area into a single cohesive environment. Building on the concept from our previous project at New Park, all furniture features built-in casters, allowing for easy rearrangement and transformation of the space to suit different events.
Faced with a tight deadline, we brought a full set of tools—including a table saw, power drill, and sander—and set up shop on-site for a week, completing the project under extreme time pressure.
At the same time, we invited artist Xu Ke to create the Foshan Special Edition of *VicE, RSO* on-site, elevating our collaborative work to new heights.
