Tokyo, Futako-Tamagawa: Tsutaya Electronics

A while ago, we designed the exhibition installation for MOFT’s pop-up at Tsutaya Denki in Futako-Tamagawa, Tokyo. Drawing inspiration from Japan’s model-making culture, we miniaturised various settings—such as offices, cafés and homes—into a series of small wooden huts on wheels.
The sloping metal roofs were perfectly suited for magnetic fittings to attach effortlessly, as if basking in the sun; soft lighting was concealed beneath the eaves, whilst inside, wooden models of a mini computer desk, chair, tree and little bird allowed visitors to instantly grasp the usage scenarios of MOFT’s products; the wheels underneath meant these little houses could be wheeled effortlessly between shop displays and product launches.
As for the wooden figure carrying a briefcase and the wooden horse standing nearby—since everyone’s talking about ‘mobile working’, why shouldn’t a suit-and-tie office worker, just like a hero in a video game, have a steed to help them pick up the pace?
