“ZINES from BOOKS” will showcase over fifty zines, pamphlets, and printed materials—some currently on the shelves at “BOOKS” and others that have been there in the past—in the form of a “book kiosk.” Reflecting the global reach of the London-based bookstore, these zines showcase the diversity of the DIY, self-publishing, and art publishing ecosystem. As a small selection from the thousands of publications the bookstore has accumulated over the years, “ZINES from BOOKS” offers a glimpse into this slice of publishing activity.
Located in Peckham, southeast London, “BOOKS” is a bookstore specializing in zines and secondhand books. The shop’s previous locations included a market stall (2015–2017) and a semi-outdoor bookstall in an alleyway (2018–2021). Today, it is a small two-room shop with a roof and restroom facilities (2021–?). The ethos of “BOOKS” is to offer high-quality books at low prices, aiming to promote affordable and accessible knowledge while fostering DIY production and distribution.
