Exhibition Duration: 2024/08 - 2024/10
Location: Room 202, Building F, Shunde ALSO, No. 6 Yihe Road, Beijiao Town, Shunde District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province
We developed a modular, disassemblable, and reusable picture book display rack for plant Bb.
Building on our signature strap-and-G-clamp design, the herringbone ladder structure from the previous abC Art Book Fair project, and the PE woven fabric material used in the Wenzhou Hong Art Museum exhibition, we incorporated CNC technology into this project. Compared to entirely hand-cut components, CNC’s standardized design is more efficient, enabling us to produce large quantities quickly.
One side of the display unit serves as a book storage area, where the spacing between panels can be adjusted to accommodate picture books of various sizes, offering greater flexibility in use. The other side functions as a reading area; reading under the extended canopy, the light from the spotlights is softened as it passes through the PE woven fabric. Some display units feature slanted wooden boards at the back that can be used as tabletops, making it convenient to lay out books.
We invited Zhang Yongyu to create a series of wooden animals. Their forms, which are both abstract and slightly figurative, offer children more room for imagination. Placed in the display window, they form a standalone installation.
