“A Tree Floated Ashore” is a creative project we developed based on our artistic framework, incorporating the unique characteristics of Shekou. Buoys are common fishing equipment; as objects with strong symbolic significance, they evoke the feeling of being “by the sea.”
Additionally, buoys filled with water serve as ballast for the wooden structure, ensuring the installation’s stability.
In this project, there is a concrete “tree”—a tree-like structure made of wood and fabric that offers passersby a space to rest;
and an abstract “tree”—the leaves of the arrowhead plant, the blue, wave-like canopy of the small boat, and the sense of swaying, all of which serve as an expression of the sea.
There is also a circular installation that is welcoming to both children and adults: the buoys’ natural height elevates the entire structure, creating a space perfectly suited for resting one’s elbows; Children can freely enter and exit to observe a garlic bulb growing naturally.
